If you are planning to go on a long journey in your car, van or RV, then you need to read about one of the must have car accessories that I have discovered in a long time - the 12v air compressor.

Whether you are planning to take the Great Ocean Road, trek the Snowy Mountains or cross the Nullabor Plains, it just takes one flat tyre to end your journey, normally miles away from the nearest town.

While you may have an extra tyre, depending on your age and fitness level, it could be difficult to remove the extra tyre and the jack from the boot, jack the car up properly, loosen the wheel nuts and replace the tyre. It's dirty work at the best of times and could be made much harder trying to accomplish this during the night time.

Wouldn't it be much easier to just re inflate the tyre and continue on your way? This enables you to be able to take the car to a garage to have the tyre replaced by a professional, or at least let you continue your trip instead of waiting until day light to make a stop and replace it.

There are more ways to re fill the tyre with air, for example canned air, but these methods are generally not that useful. The most effective solution is actually to have an air compressor on board to help you plug it in tyre and just re inflate it. But where would you plug it in?

There is now a 12v air compressor which is solar powered, making sure that it is always geared up when it's needed. The solar powered 8 in 1 power unit has an inbuilt air compressor which works at 260 PSI and has a reading gauge to help you see what the air pressure is.
